Well I have to apologize for the blur pictures as some of the pictures I got it from internet and some of the pictures that we took was quite rushing. On 23 oct 2014, we went to Cambodia for our Values In Action programme. Our flight wasn't 1 way so we stopped by Vietnam before heading off to Cambodia, Siem Reap. The timing over there is 1 hour behind Singapore and I realize that over there when the time is just only 5+ the sky is already starting to get dark and over there's 8pm is like Singapore's 11+pm 12am
The lady over there in green, her name is Diyana and she is one of the cutest and friendliest air stewardess I've ever met but sadly the photo is quite blur because we had to rush.
We reached there at 5.40 (Cambodia time), and we actually have to wait for about 15-30 minutes for the staff to help us collect our school's banner because one of my friend left it on the plane. After taking the banner we went to a Restaurant called Rainbow Restaurant for dinner and after that we went to a mall called Lucky Mall to buy some biscuits and drinks for the next few days in Cambodia. Right after we finish shopping around the Lucky Mall we went to the Smiling Angkor Hotel and that's the hotel that we would be staying for the night. Well I was lucky that my roommate was Talia because I will be feeling damn awkward if someone else is my roommate.
Because its the first night, most of us couldn't sleep so we went to do some crazy things like banging the door and the boys standing outside the room and singing their poem until 1+ 2am before all of us fall asleep
So the next morning we had to wake up at 5+ and go down and have our breakfast and then head towards the Mechrey Natural Tourism, Angkor National Museum and the Eco village. Sadly, the teachers had confiscated our phone so we couldn't take much photos.
We went to the Mechrey Natural Tourism which is located at the Peam Ta Our Village. Over here we can discover the way of living of people at the floating village, we manage to see how the kids over there go to school by travelling on a boat, and we also manage to see Crocodiles and fishes at the Crocodile farm.
While we are on our way towards the crocodile farm we saw this girl holding a snake around her neck. All of us was afraid to go near her as she and her mother approach us and try to let us take a photo and touch the snake.
After visiting the floating village, we went to the Angkor National Museum, well to be honest we didn't manage to learn much things because all of us wasn't really interested in learning we just walk one big round and see all those statues and all.
After visiting the Museum, we went to have lunch. And right after lunch we went to shop around at the old market and then we went to the Eco village. Everyone in the bus was quite afraid when they see the road and houses because we would be staying in this village for 3 days 2 night.
When we reach there and settle down already, we learn how to make bamboo rice and we had Cambodia's food for dinner. Well I couldn't find the bamboo rice stick that I make it so I ended up eating someone's else instead and it was quite hard and dry but after all is still nice and good experience for me
After enjoying our dinner all of us went back to our respective rooms and the sky was so dark so all of us had to go together.
The next morning, we woke up early for a jog/walk around the eco villae before having our breakfast. And after our breakfast we went to visit the kids at the school and just nice we would be building a road for them in the afternoon. Right after visiting the school, we build a water pump for one of the villager's house and we have to make a road made of soil for the kids to go to school. It was very tiring for some of us because we had to carry the soil from one place to the villager's house. Some of us managed to make friends with the villager's daughter. The villager has 2 daughters and i treat the oldest one as my own daughter though... Seeing her smile just brighten's up my day. After building the water pump we went to have lunch and after that we went to build the road for the kids. It was tiring too as we have to carry the soil again. But after struggling for 15-30 minutes we did a relay instead, passing to one another at a point which is way much more easier for all of us.
We went to make lantern after we build the road with our different groups. Its the first time I make it though, and we went to see our lantern fly up after our dinner. And after seeing our lantern fly up all of us went back to our room to get some sleep
